We Are FSTVL: Culture

Without the thrills of camping and an all-night festival culture (though you’ll find that at its after parties), We Are FSTVL makes the best of all-day dancing. It’s a mean daytime thrill-seek, and duly, the festival’s early doors at night make for long queues in the mornings (C/T says with a “Haruumph!”, thinking back to last year) but within, there is room for the best of bass, house and techno.

Main Stage this year hosts Gorgon City, Hot Since 82, MK, Monki and Solomun; “Used + Abused” is Yaya, Loco Dice, Adam Beyer and Art Department; Defected return again and dance heavyweight Hannah Wants this year curates her own stage: it’s called “What Hannah Wants”,  though it’s a safe bet we want what Hannah wants, too = 120 artists, twelve stages and 50,000 dancers!

Culture or Trash must inform you that We Are FSTVL is in Upminster. Which is in deepest Essex. Which means, gentle reader, that you’re in for a train journey before you party; then a long boozy wait for a Rail Replacement bus to whizz (read: clank) you down to the We Are site with a load of other champagne-soaked festivallers that (like you) will have been drinking since 5.45am.

…As a glamorous aside, there’s a brand new fleet of portaloos for 2015 as an antidote to the wee-in-can hellishness the runt of your pack would otherwise be prone to. But back to the booze: it’s a beauteous thing, pre-lashing on the train. You really must partake.
