C/T Review: Detachments – End Game.

Singles / Words

There is something admirable about the noise Detachments make that almost convinces you to like them.

Musically, they are strong and packaged professionally – synth and bass lines bob and weave together seamlessly and create a dark, sullen atmosphere, and lyrically, too, they are solid – if unspectacular. But isn’t their shtick somewhat tired and outdated? Chvrches have shown what can be done with synth-pop if the formula is manipulated – Detachments would be wise to follow suit and evolve. Less of the neo post-punk, more neo. David Handley
